Polaroid Emulsion Transfers

These images were created from 35mm color slides. In a darkroom, the slides were projected onto a piece of 8 X 10 inch Polaroid film. The Polaroid was soaked in hot water to loosen the emulsion and separate it from its white paper backing. The emulsion which contains dyes that make up the picture, was then transferred to a piece of acid free watercolor paper. As it dried, the emulsion was manipulated by hand to create the wavy effect. When dry, it adheres permanently to the watercolor paper. Polaroid has discontinued manufacturing all film, therefore these images are all of a limited edition.
